Phoebe welcomed everyone to the monthly Community call for LikeCoin, noting that it was already the August call and time was flying by, with the second month of Q2 underway. The previous month had been particularly busy for the Liker Land Team due to numerous offline events related to the publishing industry. Phoebe provided updates on these activities.

Progress of LikeCoin 3.0

She reminded everyone that kin had published several LikeCoin 3.0 green papers, offering suggestions on migrating LikeCoin to Ethereum layer 2 and recommending a move to Optimism. Although this had been mentioned in the previous month’s call, the team had been quite occupied and had not yet released a detailed migration plan for Liker Land. Phoebe assured everyone that updates would be provided once the plan was ready.

For those unaware of the green papers, Phoebe encouraged them to read these documents to understand the ongoing developments. She anticipated that the discussion would continue in the coming months. There was a Discord thread for discussion, but it has been archived due to inactivity. The thread will be reopened for those interested in continuing the discussion.

Record-high sales activities in July

Record-high sales activities in July

The Liker Land team had a particularly busy month, focusing on launching a new book bodhisattva18 by Dung Kai Cheung, a Hong Kong author and long-term supporter of Liker Land. His short literature novel was released in two editions: a limited printed edition and a digital version. This project provided a valuable learning experience, involving extensive preparation for promotional interviews and a new venture into multimedia web design.

The team encouraged everyone to visit the landing page, read some chapters for free, and share their thoughts. The book remains on sale and is recommended as a short, engaging read, especially for those new to literature. Additionally, an interview with the author is available for those interested in learning more about the book.

July was the busiest month of the year so far, with record-high sales activities during the Hong Kong book fair. Beyond the impressive sales figures, the team engaged with users to collect feedback and research consumer behavior regarding digital books. They also created various materials for presentation at physical bookstores, marking an interesting interaction between digital ebooks and traditional bookstores.

These efforts aimed to improve the current marketplace and enhance the onboarding process for layman users, a core metric for the product team. The materials created will be distributed to all affiliates. The team has been partnering with bookstores to showcase Liker Land books with affiliate links, extending the experience from a purely digital bookstore to include printed materials that people can easily take away. This initiative will continue to evolve, integrating both digital and physical elements.

Shopping Cart feature and new books in Liker Land

Active users on Liker Land may have already noticed the release of a new feature following the busiest month of the year: the shopping cart. This feature, which was previously unavailable, is designed to enhance the purchasing experience for those who prefer to buy books in batches, aligning more closely with typical e-commerce behaviors. Feedback on this new feature during the purchase journey is encouraged.

Additionally, 20 new books were listed last month, including magazines, public domain books, and works from individual authors. Among these is kin’s new book on the Sociology of blockchain 區塊鏈社會學:金錢、媒體與民主的再想像(簽名版), as well as a high-profile book 哲學未來書
from a well-known Hong Kong influencer 好青年荼毒室 on philosophy. This particular listing was an interesting experience due to the author’s active presence on social media and the book’s status as a bestseller. The momentum generated by this book is expected to continue.

The homepage also features several free local research reports, including the latest August edition from a local organization. Visitors are encouraged to check out these new listings on Liker Land.
