Liker Land book sales volume increased by 12.5%

A recap from the previous month highlights that July was one of the most successful sales months of the year, thanks to participation in Book Fair events and the listing of new books. This momentum continued into August, albeit with a slight change in strategy. In August, Liker Land listed 14 new books, focusing more on the quality and sales potential of each book. Books by publishers or writers who are active on social media or have their own channels tend to perform better. This strategy will continue into phase two to maintain momentum.

In August, efforts to onboard affiliates increased, with a significant campaign for a new book listed by a local media outlet, The Witness. Currently, Liker Land has 38 affiliates and plans to increase this number in the remaining quarters of the year. The coverage has expanded to overseas markets, particularly the UK, where there is a demand for books from Hong Kong local publishers. The actual sales volume increased by 12.5% compared to July, which was already a milestone month.

Enhanced Social Media channels

Social channel reach has also grown, thanks to partnerships and efforts to develop Liker Land’s own channels, including Instagram and Threads, which focus on book selling. These channels have started to show conversions. Facebook occasionally shares new books but has a legacy position focused on blockchain knowledge, resulting in less engagement. Therefore, Instagram and Threads are being used experimentally to reach the target audience for ebooks. Substack is also being developed as a newsletter channel and conversion funnel.

Key findings indicate that overseas friends are talking about Liker Land, and there are plans to attend an overseas Book Fair in the UK. More details will be shared once confirmed, and those in the UK are welcome to meet the team in person.

Taiwan publication business on the fly

Compared to other ebook vendors in Taiwan, a unique niche has been established by listing most of the Hong Kong publisher books, which are exclusive. Even when not exclusive, the primary audience shows significant interest in this topic. For the remaining year, the publication focus will be on well-selling Hong Kong-related publishers. Additionally, there has been a kickoff in Taiwan for out-of-print books, setting two main directions for the Liker Land book category in the upcoming month.

There is also a recognized need to expand services in creating EPUB files, aimed at lowering the barrier for traditional publishers transitioning to the ebook industry. This new service is available to partners and potential customers.

New Liker Land UI

Last month launched of the shopping cart feature, aimed at increasing revenue per customer. An experiment with a cross-sell feature on the Liker Land site is also underway, focusing on particular books. This initiative, along with the shopping cart, aims to boost customer revenue. These efforts are part of finding the product-market fit and closely monitoring key data points.

User experience improvements have been made based on reader feedback. It was noted that new users found it difficult to locate and read their books. To address this, unnecessary components were removed from Liker Land to increase efficiency and clarity. Legacy elements from Writing NFT and LikeCoin value have been removed to prevent confusion among layman readers, enhancing their experience and encouraging them to return as customers. Improvements include updates to the navigation bar and bookshelf. Feedback on these changes is welcome.

LikeCoin Migration planning

Since kin couldn’t speak, the update was provided on behalf of the team. Last month was relatively quiet due to prioritizing the growth of Liker Land as a product. However, the LikeCoin migration plan remained a consideration. Planning for the migration of Liker Land’s products, particularly NFT books and aspects related to ISCN, will begin in Q4, with details expected to be released in October. Regarding the LikeCoin migration itself, tasks might be picked up from the technical subDAO, pending proposal details and a list of migration working items. Progress is anticipated later this month and into early October, with plans to apply for community pool funds to support the migration plan.

A dedicated channel exists for discussing these matters, and follow-up will occur there. Any questions can be addressed, and further discussions will continue on Discord. Support for newly listed books is encouraged, especially a bestselling book recently added. The link for this book is shared in the chat for those interested. Appreciation is extended to everyone for their time, with a reminder to meet again next month.
