Partnership with Starling Lab

For more than a year, LikeCoin has been collaborating with Starling Lab, a U.S-based project. Recently, they have successfully implemented a significant use case on Rolling Stone, where they utilized LikeCoin’s ISCN in their framework. This is a great demonstration of how ISCN can be applied in similar use cases, which was discussed in the previous month’s call.

Starling Lab, in partnership with LikeCoin and Avalanche, has developed another use case in the Bay Area, showcasing LikeCoin and Avalanche as content integrity blockchains. This collaboration aims to increase LikeCoin’s exposure and use cases with other tier-one media outlets and demonstrate how it can be utilized in journalism and various projects. Additionally, LikeCoin has been working with Starling Lab to implement ISCN and LikeCoin as the publishing blockchain. More use cases are expected to be launched this year, and the community will be updated accordingly.

Statistics of the WordPress plugin status

Earlier this month, statistics revealed that over 600 highly active plugins out of 1000 plus installations on WordPress constantly update their plugins. The findings are why Liker Land has been investing time in exploring products in the WordPress community. This background also highlights why LikeCoin is participating in WordCamp Asia to gain more insights and connect with more WordPress users to grow the plugin in this landscape. The Liker Land team will rebrand the LikeCoin plugin soon, and it continues to be one of the most actively used Web3-related plugins in the WordPress plugin store. It holds a dominant position as a Web3-related plugin.

February promises several exciting developments.

Rebrand of LikeCoin WordPress plugin to Web3Press

Rebrand of LikeCoin WordPress plugin to Web3Press

In February, the team has planned several exciting updates. Firstly, the LikeCoin plugin for WordPress has been available for a while and has remained popular. However, the plugin has not received much marketing or promotion. To change this, the team plans to rebrand the plugin to attract WordPress users who are new to Web3. The new name will be Web3Press, which will act as a bridge between the Web2 and Web3 worlds. Additionally, LikeCoin will attend WordCamp Asia in Bangkok, where the team will introduce the new plugin to the WordPress community and sponsor the event. Kin will be speaking at the event.

illustBuy Integration to enhance the market for Writing NFTs

In addition to the WordPress plugin, there are also other exciting developments taking place. One of them involves the platform called illustBuy, which provides user-generated content about manga, such as pictures and illustrations. They have utilized our open source library to implement their own NFT. They plan to launch the product soon, enabling their users, the illustrators, to mint their drawings as NFTs on the illustBuy platform.

This integration is significant as it marks the first platform to utilize our open-source library to implement the NFT feature, and they are also implementing our Writing NFT pricing scheme. This allows creators to sell their artworks to their supporters. We will keep you updated on further developments.

In the past month, the team has been focusing on developing tools for creators to enhance the market for Writing NFTs. There are two approaches: The first approach is to provide writers with more tools to sell their works as NFTs, and the second approach is to make the buying process more appealing, so that buyers feel better when they acquire the NFTs. To achieve this, the engineers are experimenting with new ideas.

Currently, there is a demo taking place in the testnet, so it has not yet been released to production, and there is still ample room for improvement. To make the purchasing process more engaging, a 3D model will be deployed when the collector attempts to purchase an NFT. This will help buyers feel more satisfied and add value to the Writing NFT. The prototype will be launched in the coming weeks to test the market’s response.

Community Delegation Committee new proposal

In addition to the product updates, there is some governance news that you may or may not be aware of. Thanks to the CDC committee, there has been progress on Proposal 59 which involves the new elections for the Community Delegation Committee in 2023. This committee will be responsible for managing the Community delegation funds and reviewing applications from various community members. Marketing SubDAO outstanding payment

The Marketing SubDAO is finalizing an overdue marketing payment to Tiana, who has been serving as the Twitter Community Manager for the past two cycles. The SubDAO is proposing to settle the payment using the treasury of NUM tokens, which LikeCoin had acquired through a token swap with them last year under proposal 16. The tokens are currently held in the treasury. The outstanding payment amounts to approximately 9K USD, and the Marketing SubDAO believes that using NUM as a settlement for Tiana’s payout would be a suitable solution. More details will be shared in the Discord chat.

More about WordCamp Asia

kin shared a link to his topic on WordCamp Asia. One small issue to clarify is that he is not presenting on behalf of LikeCoin or Liker.land because WordCamp has a culture of not providing topics to sponsors. They only offer booths and possibly tickets for sponsors. They separate the topic selection and the sponsorship. kin is representing himself with the particular topic “How I made a living with Writing NFT on my WordPress blog,” which is related to LikeCoin because he uses LikeCoin to achieve it. He hasn’t organized his slides and also needs to update them with the new branding of the WordPress plugin. Hopefully, there will be some exposure to LikeCoin and the plugin through both sponsorship and the topic itself.
